New to Genealogy SIG Meeting
2:30 PM in the Chateaugay Room at the Chatham Recreation Center
Topic: "Getting Started on Your Genealogy"

FYI:
I'm asked from time to time why I don't post the presentations for all the SIG meetings. The simple answer is I don't know what the presentations will be unless I'm told by the SIG coordinator. Maybe you could request that the coordinator send the presentation titles to the webmaster so they can be included in the blog reminders.

Family History Expo Reminder:
Just a reminder that the General Monthly Meeting for September will be replaced by a Family History Expo. The time will also be different: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be held in the Scarlet O'Hara Theater at the Savannah Center. This event is open to all residents of The Villages. Bring along a friend or two who are interested in genealogy.

What is Scareware?
Ask Leo
"Scareware is a form of malware designed to scare you into taking some action that further damages or infects your computer or costs you money.
Most common forms of scareware display a list of infections supposedly on your computer, and inform you that you need to purchase the "full version" to remove them. In fact, the infections are completely fake and are listed only to intimidate you into handing over money. Whether or not the software you purchase actually does anything at all is debatable, but it's not uncommon for this program to contain even more malware."
