SAR Announcement
With
much regret we note that Robert Allen Gregoire, born September 16, 1933, passed
on June 16, 2015. At the time of his passing, Greg was serving as Sergeant-at-arms
for our Lake Sumter Chapter. Greg’s patriot was Adjutant Jacob Winans
(birth 1725; death 1810). He was one of many older Pennsylvania militiamen who fought in the American Revolutionary War. Winans later moved to Ohio, which was Greg’s native State.

Greg has been an active volunteer in numerous organizations and activities since
becoming a resident of The Villages. He was most active in activities which
revolved around veterans and our SAR chapter. He was a member of the local
Vietnam Veterans of America chapter where he was a member of the color guard.
Many at the VA will remember Greg for passing out coffee and donuts to waiting
patients.
Genealogy
was another passion of Compatriot Gregoire’s. He was a member of
The Villages Genealogical Society and enjoyed teaching Family Tree Maker. He
also participated in The Villages Visually Impaired Services team.
