The Archives of Michigan:

I recently received the following email from Marilyn Sayler, MGC Board Secretary.

Seeking Michigan has had a huge update in the last few days!    Seeking Michigan is the website for the Archives of Michigan which keeps the official State of Michigan records.  The following records are now online at seekingmichigan.org.

Michigan Death Records were just added--
1921 - 1952 -- the full index
1921 - 1939 -- Certificates.   Every year, a new year will be added i.e., next year 1940.
Seeking Michigan now has the Michigan Death Records from 1897 - 1952.

Detroit News Card Index.   The Detroit News transferred over 1 million card index records to the Archives last summer.   This is an index record from day 1 to the 1990's.  The Archives scanned every record and they are now searchable through PDF on Seeking Michigan.  These are not just Detroit records but a record of the state.  These cards will not be on Family Search or Ancestry -- only Seeking Michigan.
Happy searching here!
